Who We Are

We are a Relay for Life group comprised of high schoolers and Midland Elementary School Staff that participate in the Central Pierce Relay for Life. We have a mission to help with the effort of finding a cure for cancer. We are doing Hoops 4 Hope to have an exciting, fun time with the community and to raise as much money as possibe for Relay for Life. This is supposed to be a fun event for all ages! Help us support a great cause by being involved in our basketball tournament!

Dedicated to: Pam Raynor

“Hoops 4 Hope” is dedicated to Pamela Raynor who lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 1, 2012. It was Pam’s idea to create a 3-on-3 basketball tournament as a fundraiser for her Relay for Life team. The first annual Hoops 4 Hope was held in April of 2012. Little did she know that 5 months later she would be diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Cancer had touched Pam’s life twice before. Her father died from brain cancer; at age 6 her daughter, Lucy, was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma and survived. Pam became a fierce advocate against cancer, raising awareness and fundraising for a cure through her Relay for Life team.

Pam graduated from Rogers High School and her dream to be a teacher took her to Pacific Lutheran University. Pam taught special education in the Franklin Pierce School District for 26 years and touched the lives of many students, parents, and staff.

This event honors Pam’s fighting spirit, her love for basketball, and her dedication to finding a cure for this disease. Please help continue the legacy of hope that Pam inspired.

Form a team and have some fun for a good cause or simply donate to either of the following Relay teams: “Hope Warriors” or “Cardinals for a Cure” at this website: centralpiercerelay.org.
